Kenji Tomioka is a Japanese politician and former bureaucrat currently serving as the Mayor of Takasaki in Gunma Prefecture. Born in Takasaki, he graduated from the University of Tokyo and began his career at the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, eventually holding senior positions including Director-General of the Lifelong Learning Bureau and President of the National Institute for Educational Research. He also served as the President of the Gunma Prefectural Women's University. Since his election as mayor in 2011, he has focused on urban development projects, including the construction of the Takasaki City Theatre.
