Yasukuni Kinjo is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives, representing the Kyushu proportional representation block. Born in Naha and raised in Urasoe, Okinawa, he graduated from Okinawa International University before working in the construction industry and serving as a secretary to a Diet member. Kinjo previously served as a member of the Urasoe City Council and the Okinawa Prefectural Assembly. He has held the position of Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Politically, he has expressed support for the selective separate surname system for married couples and has shown openness toward legal recognition of same-sex marriage.
