Previously, she served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for East Renfrewshire from 2015 to 2017 and again from 2019 to 2024. During her time in Westminster, she held significant roles including deputy leader of the SNP parliamentary party and Chairman and Business Convener of the SNP. Before entering politics, she worked in human resources and later as a lecturer in business and administration.
