Lamya Kaddor is a German politician, scholar of Islamic studies, and author of Syrian descent. Since the 2021 federal election, she has served as a member of the German Bundestag, where she focuses on internal affairs and Middle Eastern relations. Before entering politics, she was a prominent educator and advocate for Islamic religious education in German public schools, notably co-authoring the first German-language Qur'an translation for children and the 'Saphir' school textbook. Kaddor is also the founder and chairwoman of the Liberal-Islamic Association (LIB e.V.) and has been a vocal critic of Islamism and extremism in Germany.
