Laurie Jinkins is an American politician and attorney serving as the Speaker of the Washington House of Representatives. Representing the 27th district since 2011, she made history as the first woman and first openly LGBTQ person to hold the speakership in Washington State. Before her legislative career, she worked as an assistant attorney general and held leadership roles within the Washington State Department of Health and the Tacoma–Pierce County Health Department. A dedicated advocate for public health and civil rights, Jinkins has been a prominent voice in Washington politics for over a decade.
