Lia Olguța Vasilescu

Lia Olguța Vasilescu is a Romanian politician currently serving as the Mayor of Craiova. A member of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), she previously served as the Minister of Labor from 2017 to 2018 and held seats in both the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. Vasilescu began her political career in the Greater Romania Party in 1991, later transitioning to the PSD in 2007. She made history in 2012 by becoming the first woman to serve as mayor of a Romanian county capital. Beyond her political career, she is a published author and holds a black belt in karate.
