Lia Quartapelle Procopio is an Italian politician and economist serving as a member of the Chamber of Deputies. Born in Varese, she holds degrees in development economics from the University of Pavia and the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. Before entering politics, she worked as an economist for the Italian Cooperation in Mozambique and as a researcher at the Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI). First elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 2013, she has focused her parliamentary career on foreign affairs, international development, human rights, and gender equality. She has served as a prominent voice on international security, notably coordinating efforts related to the war in Ukraine and the protection of human rights activists.
