Louis Plamondon is a veteran Canadian politician who has served as a Member of Parliament since 1984, representing the riding of Bécancour—Nicolet—Saurel. As the longest-serving current member of the House of Commons, he holds the title of Dean of the House. Originally elected as a Progressive Conservative, he became a founding member of the Bloc Québécois in 1990. Throughout his career, he has been a prominent advocate for Quebec nationalism and sovereignty, while also maintaining a focus on social issues and labor rights. In 2023, he briefly served as the interim Speaker of the House of Commons.
