Luke Murphy

Luke Murphy is a British Labour politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for Basingstoke since the 2024 general election, becoming the constituency's first Labour MP. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Politics and Economics from the University of Bath and a Master of Science in International Politics from SOAS University of London. Before his election, he worked as the head of the Fair Transition Unit at the Institute for Public Policy Research and served as a policy advisor to members of the Shadow Cabinet. In Parliament, he chairs the all-party parliamentary group on climate change, serves on the Energy Security and Net Zero Select Committee, and was appointed as a parliamentary private secretary to the Department for Transport in 2026.
