Lynne Featherstone is a British politician and member of the House of Lords. Before entering national politics, she served as a councillor for the London Borough of Haringey and as a member of the London Assembly. She was elected as the Member of Parliament for Hornsey and Wood Green in 2005, serving until 2015. During the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition government, she held ministerial roles in the Home Office and the Department for International Development, where she was a key architect of the legislation legalizing same-sex marriage in the United Kingdom. She is a patron of Humanists UK and has been a vocal advocate for equality and human rights throughout her career.
