Mahua Moitra

Mahua Moitra is an Indian politician and former investment banker currently serving as a Member of the Lok Sabha representing the Krishnanagar constituency. After a career in finance with JPMorgan Chase, she entered politics, serving in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly from 2016 to 2019. Known for her fiery parliamentary speeches and vocal criticism of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Adani Group, she was briefly expelled from parliament in 2023 following an ethics committee investigation but was re-elected in 2024. Moitra is a prominent advocate for minority rights and secularism, frequently challenging government policies such as the Citizenship Amendment Act.
