Mamie Locke is an American politician and educator currently serving as a member of the Senate of Virginia, representing the 2nd district since 2004. A member of the Democratic Party, she previously served on the Hampton City Council from 1996 to 2004 and made history as the first African American mayor of Hampton. Alongside her legislative career, she is a Professor of Political Science and a former Dean of the School of Liberal Arts at Hampton University. She holds a Ph.D. in political science from Atlanta University.
