A member of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE), she previously served as the mayor of Isla Cristina from 2007 to 2015 and held various regional roles, including Director General of Fisheries and Aquaculture for the Government of Andalusia. Throughout her career, she has also served as vice president of the Huelva Provincial Council and president of the state-owned agricultural and fisheries society, SAECA.
