Marco Massari

Marco Massari is an Italian physician and politician currently serving as the Mayor of Reggio Emilia, having been elected in 2024. Before entering politics, he had a distinguished career in medicine, specializing in gastroenterology and infectious diseases. He served as the director of the infectious diseases department at the Arcispedale Santa Maria Nuova in Reggio Emilia and was a prominent figure in the local response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Massari, who was active in the Italian Communist Youth Federation in his youth, ran as the candidate for a center-left coalition in the 2024 municipal elections, securing victory in the first round.
