Margaret Hodge is a British politician and life peer who has served as a member of the House of Lords since September 2024. Previously, she was the Labour Member of Parliament for Barking from 1994 to 2024, during which time she held several ministerial positions, including Minister for Universities and Minister for Children. Before entering national politics, she served as the Leader of Islington London Borough Council from 1982 to 1992. Throughout her career, she has been a prominent figure in public administration, notably chairing the Public Accounts Committee from 2010 to 2015.
