Mariana Mortágua is a Portuguese economist and politician who served as a deputy in the Assembly of the Republic from 2013 to December 2025 and as National Coordinator of the Left Bloc from May 2023 to November 2025. Educated at ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon and the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), she gained national prominence for her incisive role in parliamentary inquiries into financial scandals and banking collapses. A prominent figure on the political left, Mortágua has been a vocal advocate for economic justice, women's rights, and LGBT rights.
