Joana Mortágua is a Portuguese politician and a deputy in the Assembly of the Republic, representing the Setúbal constituency since 2015. A member of the Left Bloc, she has been a prominent advocate for public education, labor rights, and social justice throughout her career. Before her national parliamentary service, she was active in student movements and served as a municipal councillor in Almada. Mortágua holds a degree in international relations from the University of Lisbon and has played a key role in negotiating parliamentary agreements for the Left Bloc. She is also a published author and a vocal supporter of democratic school management.
