Outside of his legislative career, McConkey is a business owner who operates McConkey Construction, a firm specializing in septic systems, and the M&V Convenience Store in Ossipee, New Hampshire. In 2025, he was appointed by Governor Kelly Ayotte to the Commission on Government Efficiency, a body tasked with identifying opportunities to reduce state government spending.
