Maryam Blumenthal

Maryam Blumenthal is a German politician serving as the Senator for Science, Research and Equality in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg since May 2025. Born in Tehran, she moved to Germany as a refugee in 1987 and later pursued a career in education, working as a teacher and educator before entering politics. Blumenthal previously served as a member of the Hamburg Parliament and held the position of state chair for Alliance 90/The Greens in Hamburg from 2021 to 2025. Her political work has focused on social policy, education, and vocational training.
