Mithat Çapar is a German politician and a member of the Hamburgische Bürgerschaft, representing the Altona constituency since 2025. Born in 1979 in Hamburg to a family of guest workers, he initially trained as a chemical plant operator before earning his Abitur and a degree in economics from the University of Hamburg. He has worked as a consultant in the public sector. A long-time member of the SPD, he served in the Altona District Assembly from 2012 to 2025 and has been the deputy state chairman of the SPD Hamburg since 2021. In the state parliament, he chairs the Committee for Public Enterprises and serves on committees for urban development and social integration.
