Masashi Komurasaki is a Japanese politician and former government official currently serving as the Mayor of Ikoma, Nara Prefecture. Born in Ono, Hyogo, he graduated from Hitotsubashi University and spent several years as a bureaucrat in the Ministry of the Environment, including an overseas assignment at the Embassy of Japan in the United States. After leaving the ministry, he served as Deputy Mayor of Ikoma before being elected Mayor in 2015. Throughout his tenure, he has focused on decentralization, local energy initiatives through the establishment of Ikoma Citizen Power, and social inclusion policies such as the introduction of a partnership oath system for same-sex couples. He is also a prolific author on public administration and career development for civil servants.
