Izumi Matsumoto is a Japanese politician and former bureaucrat currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives. Born in Kashiwa, Chiba, he graduated from Keio University and later earned degrees from Harvard University's Kennedy School and Law School. He previously served as an official at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, where he held the position of Director of the Russia, Central Asia and Caucasus Office. Following his career in the civil service, he worked as an attorney at Baker McKenzie and Nishimura & Asahi. In 2026, he was elected to the House of Representatives representing Chiba's 8th district as a member of the Liberal Democratic Party.
