Maxine Waters

Maxine Waters is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for California's 43rd congressional district since 1991. A prominent member of the Democratic Party, she previously served seven terms in the California State Assembly. Throughout her congressional career, she has been a vocal advocate for social justice, affordable housing, and financial regulation, notably chairing the House Financial Services Committee from 2019 to 2023. She is recognized as the most senior of the Black women serving in Congress and has been a consistent critic of various presidential administrations.
