Meir Cohen is an Israeli politician currently serving as a member of the Knesset for the Yesh Atid party. Born in Morocco, he immigrated to Israel as a child and later served as the mayor of Dimona from 2003 to 2013. During his political career, he has held the position of Minister of Welfare and Social Affairs on two separate occasions, from 2013 to 2014 and again from 2021 to 2022. A former headteacher and military veteran, Cohen has focused his legislative work on social welfare and regional development.
