Previously, she served in the Alabama House of Representatives for two decades, where she held the position of Assistant Minority Leader. An educator and policy strategist, Coleman has focused her legislative career on criminal justice reform, including human trafficking legislation and parole reform, as well as advocating for voting rights and reproductive healthcare access. She is also an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Miles College.
