Michael Murphy is an American politician and retired pilot currently serving as a member of the Kansas Senate. He previously represented the 114th district in the Kansas House of Representatives from 2021 to 2025. Before entering politics, Murphy had a long career as a pilot for United Airlines from 1990 to 2007. Following his retirement from aviation, he became the operator of the Prairie Oaks Inn in Sylvia, Kansas, and has been active in public discourse as a writer and radio host.
