Michalis Paraskevas

Michalis Paraskevas is a Cypriot lawyer, activist, and politician serving as a member of the House of Representatives of Cyprus since May 2026. Born in Nicosia in 1976, he studied law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Before his election, he gained prominence as a civil rights activist, notably engaging in civil disobedience by refusing to pay social insurance contributions to protest government austerity and the mismanagement of the Social Insurance Fund. Identifying with anarchist principles and supporting direct democracy, he transitioned from a stance of total opposition to political parties to actively lobbying for legislative reform. He was elected to parliament representing the Limassol district as a candidate for the ALMA movement.
