Michelle Au is an American anesthesiologist and politician currently serving as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives for District 50. Born in New York City to Chinese-American immigrant parents, she pursued a career in medicine before entering politics. Au previously served in the Georgia State Senate, where she made history as the first Asian American elected to that body. In addition to her legislative work, she is the author of the 2011 book 'This Won't Hurt a Bit (and Other White Lies,' which explores the realities of medical education and the practice of medicine.
