Michio Kawai is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives, representing the South Kanto proportional representation block. Born in Tokyo in 1990, he holds degrees from the University of Tokyo and Kyoto University. Before entering politics, he worked at the education company LITALICO and was involved with the educational organization HLAB since its founding in 2011. Motivated by his family's experiences with school non-attendance, Kawai focuses on educational reform. He serves as the Public Relations Director for his party, Team Mirai, and is a member of the Committee on Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
