Asato Mihara is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives. Born in Kitakyushu, he previously served two terms as a member of the Kitakyushu City Council. Mihara's political career includes experience as a policy secretary to his uncle, former lawmaker Asahiko Mihara, and as a secretary to the Mayor of Fukuoka. After a period as an independent following his expulsion from the Liberal Democratic Party for supporting a non-party-endorsed candidate in a mayoral election, he was reinstated and elected to the national Diet in 2026. He is a member of the Aso faction and holds conservative views, supporting constitutional reform, the strengthening of Japan's defense capabilities, and the maintenance of the current imperial succession system.
