Mohammad Mosaddegh

Mohammad Mosaddegh was an Iranian politician, author, and lawyer who served as the Prime Minister of Iran from 1951 to 1953. A prominent nationalist figure, he is best known for nationalizing the Iranian oil industry, which sparked the Abadan Crisis and a major confrontation with British and American economic and political interests. His administration was ultimately overthrown in the 1953 coup d'état orchestrated by foreign intelligence agencies, leading to his imprisonment and subsequent house arrest until his death in 1967.
