Mohammed Bassiouni was an Egyptian military officer and diplomat who served as the Egyptian ambassador to Israel from 1986 until 2000. Following the conclusion of the 1979 Camp David Peace Accord, he was posted to the Egyptian embassy in Tel Aviv before being appointed ambassador. After returning to Egypt during the Second Intifada, he became the deputy leader of the Shura Council's foreign relations committee and a member of parliament's upper house until his passing in 2011.
