Godswill Obot Akpabio is a Nigerian lawyer and politician currently serving as the 15th President of the Senate of Nigeria since 2023. Previously, he served as the Minister for Niger Delta Affairs from 2019 to 2022 and as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State from 2007 to 2015. A member of the All Progressives Congress, Akpabio has held various ministerial and legislative roles throughout his career, including serving as Senate Minority Leader before his defection to the ruling party. He is a law graduate of the University of Calabar and has received numerous honorary doctorates and awards for his contributions to infrastructure and public administration in Nigeria.
