Monique Limón is an American politician serving as the President pro Tempore of the California State Senate. Born and raised in Santa Barbara, she previously served in the California State Assembly and on the Santa Barbara Unified School District Board of Education. Throughout her legislative career, she has focused on housing affordability, wildfire prevention, and education policy. In 2025, she became the first woman of color and the first Latina to lead the California State Senate.
