Nasaruddin Umar is an Indonesian Islamic scholar and politician currently serving as the Minister of Religious Affairs. He is also the Grand Imam of the Istiqlal Mosque and has served as the rector of PTIQ University since 2005. Previously, he held the position of Vice Minister of Religious Affairs from 2011 to 2014. An accomplished academic, he has authored numerous books, including works on gender equality in the Quran, and has held visiting scholar positions at prestigious institutions such as McGill University, Leiden University, and Georgetown University.
