Octavian Ursu

Octavian Ursu is a German politician and the Lord Mayor of Görlitz. Born in Bucharest, Romania, he pursued a career as a professional musician and educator before entering politics, serving as a solo trumpeter for the Neue Lausitzer Philharmonie. Since joining the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) in 2009, he has held various local and regional roles, including serving as a member of the Saxon State Parliament from 2014 to 2019. He was first elected Lord Mayor of Görlitz in 2019 and secured a second term in 2026.
