In 2012, he was the victim of a high-profile kidnapping, an event that later became the subject of a major criminal investigation. As a parliamentarian, he serves as the deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy and Housing and Utilities Services, where he has focused on energy policy and infrastructure development.
