Satoshi Oie is a Japanese politician serving as a member of the House of Councillors, currently in his third term. Born in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka, he previously served as a member of the Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly for three terms. Throughout his career, he has held various government and party positions, including State Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Committee on Financial Affairs in the House of Councillors. Oie is affiliated with the Liberal Democratic Party and is known for his conservative policy stances, including support for constitutional amendment and the strengthening of Japan's defense capabilities. In 2024, he notably abandoned a bid to transition from the House of Councillors to the House of Representatives after failing to secure official party endorsement for the Fukuoka 9th district.
