Before his election as mayor, he served as a member of the 10th Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly, where he focused on regional development, basic income policies, and transportation infrastructure. A member of the Democratic Party of Korea, he has held various party roles, including special advisor to the party leader on local autonomy and policy committee vice-chair, and has been recognized for his commitment to community service and fiscal efficiency.
