Patrice Vergriete is a French politician and urban planner currently serving as the Mayor of Dunkerque. An engineer by training, he graduated from the École polytechnique and the École des ponts ParisTech before beginning his career at the OECD and in ministerial cabinets. He was first elected mayor in 2014 and gained national prominence for implementing free public transport in his city. Vergriete served as Minister Delegate for Housing and later Minister Delegate for Transport in the governments of Élisabeth Borne and Gabriel Attal. Politically, he is identified as miscellaneous left, though he has maintained a supportive stance toward the policies of Emmanuel Macron regarding industrial renewal.
