Paul Sweeney

Paul Sweeney is a Scottish politician currently serving as a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the Glasgow region, having been first elected in 2021 and re-elected in 2026. Previously, he served as the Member of Parliament for Glasgow North East from 2017 to 2019. Before entering politics, he worked as a production engineer and operations manager in the shipbuilding industry for BAE Systems and later as a senior executive at Scottish Enterprise. A member of the Scottish Labour and Co-operative Party, Sweeney is known for his advocacy on drug policy reform, including his efforts to establish overdose prevention centres, and his focus on industrial strategy and economic development.
