Before his election, he served as the president and CEO of the Downtown Memphis Commission. His administration has focused on public safety initiatives, including the implementation of AI-powered surveillance and the 'Operation Code Zero' program, as well as addressing infrastructure challenges within the Memphis Area Transit Authority. Young holds degrees in electrical engineering and business administration from the University of Tennessee.
