Penny Wong is an Australian politician who has served as a Senator for South Australia since 2002 and as the Minister for Foreign Affairs since 2022. A member of the Labor Party, she has held numerous high-profile cabinet positions, including Minister for Climate Change and Minister for Finance and Deregulation. As the first Asian-Australian cabinet minister and the first openly LGBTI federal parliamentarian in Australia, she has been a prominent advocate for social equality and same-sex marriage. She currently serves as the Leader of the Government in the Senate, a position she has held during both the Rudd and Albanese governments.
