Peter Dowd

Peter Christopher Dowd is a British Labour Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for Bootle since 2015. Born in Bootle, he has a long history of local government service, including roles as a Merseyside County Councillor and Leader of Sefton Council from 2011 to 2015. During his parliamentary career, he served as the Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury from 2017 to 2020. Dowd is known for his working-class background and has been an active participant in parliamentary debates, including voting in favor of the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill in 2024.
