Peter Russo

Peter Samuel Russo is an Australian politician and lawyer who has served as the Labor Party member for the electoral district of Toohey in the Queensland Legislative Assembly since 2015. Before entering politics, he was a prominent solicitor and the Principal of Russo Lawyers, with over 30 years of experience specializing in criminal law. He gained national attention in 2007 for representing Dr. Mohamed Haneef in a high-profile legal case and was named 'Australian of the Year' by The Australian newspaper that same year. In his parliamentary career, he has held several leadership roles, including serving as the Chair of the Community Safety and Legal Affairs Committee.
