Before entering state politics, he served as the mayor of Markt Wald starting in 2014 and held a seat on the Unterallgäu district council. A member of the Christian Social Union (CSU), he represents the Kaufbeuren constituency. In the Landtag, he is active in the Committee on Constitution, Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Integration, and the Committee on Federal and European Affairs and Regional Relations. Additionally, he serves as the development policy spokesperson for the CSU parliamentary group.
