Petra Broistedt

Petra Broistedt is a German politician who has served as the Mayor of Göttingen since November 2021. Born in Uelzen in 1964, she studied social work and social pedagogy before pursuing a career in public administration, including roles as a women's representative and department head for culture and social affairs. A member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), she previously held local council positions in Stadtoldendorf and the Hameln-Pyrmont district. She has announced that she will not seek re-election in 2026.
