Piedad Córdoba

Piedad Córdoba was a Colombian lawyer and politician who served as a senator from 1994 to 2010 and again from 2022 until her death in 2024. A prominent member of the Liberal Party and founder of the Citizens Power 21st Century movement, she was known for her outspoken advocacy of human rights, minority rights, and peaceful negotiations to resolve the Colombian armed conflict. In addition to her parliamentary career, she acted as a humanitarian mediator and engaged in various peace initiatives throughout Latin America before passing away in January 2024.
