Pouria Amirshahi is a French-Iranian politician currently serving as a Member of the National Assembly for the 5th constituency of Paris. Born in Iran, he moved to France as a child and became a prominent student leader, serving as president of the UNEF-ID from 1994 to 1998. Throughout his career, he has worked in social action, sustainable development, and journalism, including a tenure as director of the weekly publication Politis. A former Socialist Party member, he was previously elected as a deputy for French citizens abroad in 2012, where he became known as a leading figure among the 'frondeurs' who challenged the policies of the Hollande administration. He returned to the National Assembly in 2024.
