A long-time member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he has held several key organizational roles, including State General Secretary for BJP Jharkhand. Beyond his political career, Varma is an educator and philanthropist who founded Sarala Birla University and several public schools. He is also a trained Swayamsevak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and an active advocate for social and educational development in his home state.
